FULL COURSE PARTICIPATION IN PERSON IS REQUIRED

Dupseng Rinpoche
PHOWA RETREAT
6. - 11. 6. 2026
KKPL Center

The current, third, Dupseng Rinpoche was born in 1981 in Mundgod. Rinpoche was recognized by H.E Shamar Rinpoche, Tai Situ Rinpoche and Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche as the reincarnation of 2nd Dupseng Rinpoche.
Rinpoche is first and foremost a vajra master guiding his students, both monastic and lay, in their practice of the Buddhadharma through all levels.
For his lay students Rinpoche has been traveling and teaching for years, holding group retreats and guiding smaller and larger groups in shorter and longer retreats - he has traveled and imparted Buddha teaching in more than a hundred countries. It is Rinpoche’s aspiration to guide his lay students to the same accomplishments as the traditional lamas.

Phowa (consciousness transfer)
Phowa is a tantric practice in Tibetan Buddhism that centers on the conscious transference (Tib. phowa) of one's awareness at the time of death. Phowa is traditionally trained under the guidence of a qualified lama and involves visualization, mantra recitation, and prayer. Practitioners can further practice this technique and prepare themselves for that moment.
Thanks to Phowa, death is no longer a source of fear but becomes a unique opportunity to ensure a favorable rebirth in the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha (Dewachen) and, ultimately, to attain liberation from the cycle of samsara. This pure land is very accessible, thanks to the power of Amitabha’s aspiration, as beings can be reborn there simply on the basis of their sincere wish. By strengthening this wish and training in the practice of Phowa, the practitioner secures the perfect conditions for swift progress toward full enlightenment.

Conditions for participation:
There is a qualification requirement by Rinpoche for participating in the course. The preparation consists of daily short meditation on Buddha Amitabha (approx. 15 minutes) with a recitation of mantra OM AMI DEWA HRÍ, for at least two months before the retreat. Meditation text download HERE.
