Karmapa means "Master of Buddha Activity". The Karmapa lineage was established at the beginning of the last millennium, and the Karmapa is thus the longest continuously incarnating principal representative of one of the four leading schools of Tibetan Buddhism, the Karma Kagyu lineage.
