Dr. Nida Chenagtsang

Traditional Tibetan Doctor, Teacher, Writer, and Yogi

Dr. Nida Chenagtsang is a recognized authority in the field of traditional Tibetan medicine and spirituality, originally from Amdo in eastern Tibet. His interest in traditional healing methods led him to study at a local Tibetan medicine hospital. With a scholarship, he continued his studies at the Tibetan Medical University in Lhasa, where he earned his medical degree in 1996. He expanded his practical experience with internships at Sowa Rigpa hospitals in Lhasa and Lhokha.

In addition to medicine, Dr. Nida pursued intensive studies in Buddhism, particularly in the Vajrayana traditions of Longchen Nyingthig and Dudjom Tersar, and practiced the spiritual teachings of the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage under the guidance of his mentors, Khenchen Troru Tsenam and Khenpo Tsultrim Gyaltsen. He received authorization to teach and transmit teachings, including empowerment to teach tantric practices such as the Hayagriva tantra and Yuthok Nyingthig from Khedrup Michötsang.


Dr. Nida Chenagtsang is the author of numerous articles and books dedicated to Tibetan medicine. His intensive exploration of ancient healing methods in eastern Tibet has earned him recognition both in the East and the West, particularly for his efforts to revive traditional external healing therapies. Dr. Nida is the co-founder and medical director of SKẎ Sorig Khang International (formerly known as IATTM, the International Academy of Traditional Tibetan Medicine) and the International Ngak Mang Institute, which focuses on the preservation and promotion of the yogic culture of Rebkong Ngakpa in modern Tibetan society. Dr. Nida lectures on Tibetan medicine Sowa Rigpa and the spiritual tradition of Yuthok Nyingthig in more than 40 countries. He currently lives in Rome but regularly visits his native Tibet.
