Monlam in Prague

The Tibetan word Mon-lam can be translated “Path of Aspiration”. Many aspiration prayers are recited during the Kagyu Monlam. The main prayer is what is known as the “King of Aspiration Prayers” or “Samantabhadra Wishing Prayer”. It is part of a large collection of the words of the Buddha preserved in the Kanjur.

When everyone gathered at the Kagyu Monlam recites the prayer, its power is increased a hundred thousand or more times. This contributes to the well-being and spiritual development of all sentient beings and helps them reach enlightenment.

The Kagyu Monlam, which is held annually in Bodhgaya under the guidence of H.H. 17th Karmapa, will be broadcast only online again due to the world situation. However, as it is difficult for Europeans to attend the entire program due to the time shift, Lama Sabchu Rinpoché has accepted our request for the second time to hold this event on a smaller scale here in the Czech Republic.

And that's not all! Our precious lama Maniwa Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche will also join the program, and will give us the teachings on this great celebration of aspiration prayers for the benefits of all sentient beings.

Because Kagyu Monlam is a big event, it features unique shrine decorations and many flowers and candles are used in the practice of dedication.
